About Workstep
WORKSTEP is for Disabled people who want paid employment, but face complex barriers to finding and keeping work.
With the right support they can work effectively and develop in their job.
WORKSTEP offers a range of support to disabled people that will:
- Develop and improve job skills and employability, including the ability to work with others and to sustain a job;
- Meet the requirements of disabled people facing the most significant barriers to working and who need continuing support over a period;
- Encourage personal development and promote independence;
- Encourages employers to participate in the development and support of their employee; and
- Enable participants to work effectively in a job, focusing on both the requirements of the employee and employer in a planned and structured way.
Moorland Plastics currently provides jobs for 40 disabled people in the factory and also has 14 external places allocated to us under the Workstep funding.
People employed on the WORKSTEP programme are in a diverse range such as Teaching, Gardening and Social Services and work around the borough of Barnsley.
Many of the occupations are in the Public Sector, but as a WORKSTEP provider we seek to extend the programme further into the private sector by raising the awareness of Workstep amongst local employers and promoting the employment of people with disabilities
Contact the WORKSTEP coordinator for more information on meeting the eligibility criteria for the WORKSTEP programme.
Moorland Plastics Barnsley is committed to Equal Opportunities.
